The Ferry Building has welcomed a delicious new addition with the opening of Parachute, a bakery and café from the Michelin-starred Sorrel team. Specializing in elegant Viennoiserie and modern takes on French classics, the café has already made a splash with its signature pastry, the Parachute Chocolate Entremet. This five-layer chocolate creation, shaped like a parachute or downturned croissant, highlights the fine-dining pastry skills of co-owner and chef Nasir Armar.

Opening day proved San Francisco is ready for Parachute. According to a SFist article, By 8:00 a.m., lines stretched through the Ferry Building, and the signature offerings sold out within forty minutes. Guests also discovered Armar’s perfected butter croissants, baked fresh throughout the day, as well as inventive spins like a candy-bar-shaped chocolate croissant and a savory pain Suisse filled with spinach, mushrooms, béchamel, goat cheese, and sungold tomatoes.

The menu offers plenty of variety. Almond croissants, brown butter spiced bun, vanilla & passionfruit cube and savory pan suisse all tempt visitors. Other favorites include pecan financier croissants, gluten-free chocolate chip cookies, black sesame and yuzu cookies, canelés, and a slightly charred cheesecake with creamy center.

Parachute also delivers on drinks. Pressed juices and smoothies are on the menu. Specialty coffee blends, plus espresso, masala chai, and even a house-made strawberry cream soda, round out the experience. Parachute is a must-visit for Ferry Building regulars and pastry lovers alike.
