Bay Area Cocktails You Can Make At Home

Fall is a special time of year in the City.  As the weather cools off and the year winds down, it’s an excellent time to look forward to the coming New Year and all that 2021 will bring.   It’s also a wonderful reason to enjoy some of the amazing seasonal cocktails being served up in the Bay Area this time of year.

7×7 has compiled a short list of five local bar stars sharing their fall cocktail recipes for those budding mixologist in us all who would like to give it a try at home.

One of the five cocktails which made the list was SoMa’s Alexander’s Steakhouse the Once Upon a Time in Mexico is like molé but in boozy fashion.

From the 7×7 article:

Nicholas Bonney, bar manager at Alexander’s Steakhouse SF, wanted to emulate a traditional molé in alcoholic form when he created this cocktail.

“Salty, savory, sweet, sour, spicy, and smoky—these notes all hit your palate in succession, pleasantly confusing your mind. The goal was to have the drink get more complex as you drink it and try to decipher which ingredients are creating which flavors.”

Ingredients

1½ ounce mezcal (Bruxo x)

½ ounce creme de cacao (Giffard)

1 ounce date vinegar (Huilerie Beaujolaise)

1 ounce pineapple juice

½ ounce fresh lime juice

1 dash firewater habanero bitters

Add ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Pour over a large ice cube in a glass half rimmed with cinnamon and worm salt (sal de gusano). Garnish with a date wheel and cinnamon stick.
