Emporer Norton’s Holiday Bazaar Comes to SoMa

Whether you are human or elf, young or old, reindeer or turtle doves, Emperor Norton’s Holiday Bazaar is the perfect venue to gather with friends, family and your community this holiday season with classic holiday decorations, cozy resting spaces, unique gifts for purchase, soul-warming food and live performances.

This year the Salesforce Transit Center and Salesforce Plaza will be transformed into a holiday extravaganza drawing inspiration from the great European holiday markets.  This Off the Grid inaugural event is going to be the “go to” Holiday market of the Bay Area, with visitors from near and far. Who can resist a day with illuminated Christmas trees, mulled-wine, holiday displays, cozy lounge areas and food and shopping stalls?

This special event was recently the subject of a Mercury News article, which described the Holiday market as:

The bazaar, like its European counterparts, offers plenty of gift-shopping possibilities, too, with 25 boutique vendors. Among them: Wen Wen Designs, Occasionalish, Emma Rose, Crimson Gate Tea, Andytown Coffee Roasters, Color Street and Storied Hats.

Namesake.  Norton I, Emperor of these United States and Protector of Mexico, is a cherished icon for the city of San Francisco. He is celebrated throughout the city for his off-kilter charm and unusual, yet whimsical, proclamations. He created his own currency, banned the word “Frisco’, and was embraced and humored by his community.

The holiday market opens at 11 a.m. daily at 415 Mission Street and runs through December 24. Find more details at the official website and Off The Grid’s Facebook page.
