Must Attend Events in August

Life at Jasper puts you in the center of August excitement. We’ve rounded up a few must attend events that include festivals, summer cocktail parties, live music, sweet s’mores, and more. Map out your month here:

August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29: Tacolicious. This summer, Tacolicious is at the Thursday Ferry Plaza Farmers Market stand for the annual guest chef series.

August 2: Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant. Champagne Laurent-Perrier with Cowgirl Cheeses, Naomi Smith.

August 3: Shuck Yeah! National Oyster Day. Dive into National Oyster Day with freshly-shucked oysters at SoMa StrEat Food Park’s Shuck Yeah National Oyster Day shell-ebration!

August 3-4: Nihonmachi Street Fair. Featuring Asian artisans, performers, and food, plus a muscle-car show and a children’s area in Japantown.

August 4, 11, 18: Stern Grove Festival. Enjoy the last few live music performances in beautiful Stern Grove each Sunday this month until August 18. All shows start at 2pm.

August 6: Weekend UrbanKick. Get fit for free al fresco with classes provided by FITNESS SF.

August 7: Summer Cocktails of the Farmers Market. At this happy hour party, you’ll bask in the sunshine of the iconic Ferry Building’s Grand Hall while tasting impeccably crafted cocktails.

August 7, 14, 21, 28: Summer Sounds. Enjoy lively bands as they perform in the Three Embarcadero Center Urban Patio from 12-2pm.

August 7: MOVING IN PLACE. Experience the Caribbean in Motion Film Series at the Museum of the African Diaspora (MoAD).

August 8-9: Outside Lands. This three-day music festival features more than 70 well-known artists on multiple stages, as well as local food, wine, and beer vendors.

August 9: Hollywood to Pop. In the new, limited film series Hollywood to Pop, SFMOMA explores the movies that inspired some of Warhol’s most iconic portraits.

August 10: National S’mores Day! Satisfy your sweet tooth with an undeniably delicious, perfectly golden, graham cracker masterpiece with 4 deluxe fire pits at SPARK Social SF.

August 11, 18, 24, 31: SF Mime Troupe. This year’s piece, Treasure Island is about corruption on the building of the new Treasure Island.

August 16: Art & Nature on Top of the Tower! Enjoy the most spectacular view you can get in the city, live music, great food, drinks, and beautiful exhibits of nature-inspired art.

August 16: Botanicals and Brews Beer Garden. Hear live music (7 to 10 p.m.), visit the Conservatory of Flowers and hang out in the Palm Terrace beer garden.

August 17: DIY Flower Arranging. Stop by the CUESA Classroom to learn flower arranging tricks and tips from Molly Baker of Lonely Mountain Farm, and take home your own DIY mini bouquet!

August 24: Ubay SF Ube Fest. A galactic lineup of mouthwatering, eye-catching, Instagram-worthy ube eats are returning to SoMa StrEat Food Park.

August 24: Eat Drink SF. Featuring 160 chefs, local restaurants, bars, distilleries, breweries, and wineries.

August 25: FRIENDS Day. Celebrate the 25th anniversary of Friends at Oracle Park with a photo opportunity alongside actual props used, a Giants branded FRIENDS Coffee Mug & a shirt!

August 25: Bridge to Bridge Run. Follow a scenic waterfront route from Justin Herman Plaza to an after party with food and music at Marina Green.

Thru August 28: Summer Sounds. Lively bands will be performing in the Three Embarcadero Center Urban Patio every Wednesday from 12-2pm.

Thru September 2: Andy Warhol – From A to B and Back Again. Don’t miss the art event of the summer at SFMOMA.

Thru October 6: Concerts in the park. Golden Gate Park Band plays a variety of music (classical, marches, opera, swing, and show tunes) at Spreckels Temple of Music in Golden Gate Park.

Thru October 27: Yerba Buena Gardens Festival. Hear music concerts and watch dance performances outdoors.
