The Jasper August Agenda

Life at Jasper is always buzzing with excitement, and August is no exception. This month, the city offers an array of events that cater to every interest. From lively cultural festivals and bustling marketplaces to soothing yoga sessions and vibrant music performances, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, prepare to immerse yourself in the diverse and dynamic happenings that make Jasper truly unique.

From the three-day Outside Lands festival to the bustling HEAD WEST Marketplace, and the rhythmic beats of Rooftop Jazz, the city offers something for everyone. Dive into National Farmers Market Week, groove at Downtown First Thursdays, or unwind with Music on the Plaza. San Francisco’s August events promise memorable moments filled with art, music, food, and community spirit.

August 2-3, Nihonmachi Street Fair. Celebrate Asian Pacific American cultures in SF’s Japantown district. During this event, you can sample traditional food, enjoy live entertainment, and participate in activities.

August 3, HEAD WEST Marketplace, HEAD WEST is a marketplace for emerging + established local brands and small businesses. From hand-made ceramics to locally sourced vintage, there are always new categories of goods available to explore.

August 3-9, National Farmers Market Week. Join your community in celebrating National Farmers Market Week at Foodwise farmers markets: Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Tuesday and Thursday (10 am to 2 pm) and Saturday (8 am to 2 pm) at Embarcadero and Market Street.

August 6, Rooftop Jazz. A selection of the finest Bay Area Jazz musicians perform at this weekly series curated by Jazz in the Neighborhood and the Bay Area Jazz Mobile.

August 7, Downtown First Thursdays. DFT is a free monthly street party hosted in Downtown San Francisco taking place on every first Thursday of the month from 5pm to 10pm. Get ready for disco in the streets, DJs, live music, drag, fashion, street performances, and more.

August 7, Bachata at Sunset. Looking to try something new, meet great people, and dance the night away? Join Inessence Dance Co. every first and third Thursday at The Crossing for a beginner-friendly bachata class.

August 7, First Thursdays at SFMOMA. From 12 noon–8 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month, Bay Area residents can enjoy SFMOMA’s galleries filled with lively and inspiring art — for free.

August 7-28, Music on the Plaza. Kick back, relax, and take in Embarcadero views while enjoying a cold beverage and snacks on the plaza at the Fort Point Beer Garden, accompanied by performances from Bay Area musicians. Thursdays, 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

August 8-10, Outside Lands. This three-day festival, held in Golden Gate Park, features a number of well-known international performers. 

August 9-10, Pistahan Parade and Festival. Experience the beauty of Filipino art, dance, music, and cuisine at the 32nd edition of this two-day festival, recognized as the largest celebration of Filipino Americans in the U.S.

August 16, City Connect Concert Featuring Saweetie. Catch hometown hip-hop star Saweetie live at Oracle Park after the Rays vs. Giants. Experience the postgame show from your seat or grab a field pass to get even closer to Saweetie’s performance. The concert will start approximately 30 minutes after the final out of the game.

August 20, Drag Bingo Night. Come play bingo with Mama Celeste at the Fort Point Beer Garden! Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, grab a refreshing beverage or delicious snack from Fort Point Brewery and join in the bingo fun on the North Plaza. Expect sass, prizes and good vibes on the Embarcadero.

August 22, Cut to Summer Movie Nights. Cut to Summer at The Crossing! The perfect way to wind down your week—bring a blanket, bring your friends, and enjoy a movie under the stars at The Crossing.

August 22, SF Welcome Week Rave. Experience the SF Welcome Week Rave at Temple SF, a special one-night event perfect for visitors and locals alike.

August 23, Summer Backyard Bash. The Crossing’s Annual Summer Party is Back! Sports and movies on jumbo screens, pickleball courts, soccer fields, cornhole and lawn games, a full bar and food court—The Crossing is Downtown’s Backyard, and what better way is there to celebrate summer than with an epic backyard party?

August 28, SOMA Nights. This lively monthly festival transforms Folsom Street (between 6th and 12th streets) into a vibrant hub of art, food, and culture. From 7th to 8th Street, explore alleys and storefronts, live music, performances, delicious food, and unique pop-ups.

Thru October 5, Golden Gate Park Band’s Free Symphony in the Park. Golden Gate Park’s 30-piece symphony has been playing free concerts in Golden Gate Park since 1882. Many concerts feature music of specific nationalities or cultures, including costumed guest performances from dancers, singers, and speakers, who will enlighten and entertain.

Mondays from 12-1pm, Outdoor Yoga SF. Join our Monday yoga series on the Back Plaza, with beautiful and peaceful views overlooking the Bay!

Wednesdays from 3-7pm, Mahjong Meetup. Play Mahjong at the Ferry Building! If you have never played and are eager to learn, an instructor is available to give you a quick guide and helpful tips on Chinese-style.

Thursdays from 4-8pm, Grill and Chill Series. Join Peaches Patties every Thursday after work: let’s make Thursdays the new Friday.
