As summer fades into fall, San Francisco comes alive with a fresh wave of energy — and nowhere is that more evident than at Jasper. September is packed with an exciting lineup of events that celebrate the city’s vibrant spirit, from cultural festivals and artisan markets to rooftop concerts and family-friendly movie nights. Whether you’re looking to break a sweat, sample gourmet bites, or simply soak in the sights and sounds of the city, there’s no better place to be this month than right here.
September 2, Tai Chi in the Plaza. Take a midday break and enjoy some tai chi in the plaza. Free and open to the public. Come and leave at your convenience. No experience needed.
September 4, First Thursdays at SFMOMA. From 12 noon–8 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month, Bay Area residents can enjoy SFMOMA’s galleries filled with lively and inspiring art — for free.
September 4, Downtown First Thursdays. DFT is a free monthly street party hosted in Downtown San Francisco taking place on every first Thursday of the month from 5pm to 10pm. Get ready for disco in the streets, DJs, live music, drag, fashion, street performances, and more.
September 4-25, Music on the Plaza. Kick back, relax, and take in Embarcadero views while enjoying a cold beverage and snacks on the Ferry Building South Plaza, accompanied by performances from Bay Area musicians. Thursdays, 5-7pm.
September 5, “Superman” Movie Night at Oracle Park. Expect to see all the technological tricks of Oracle Park on full display during the screening. It’s going to be an immersive, interactive movie-going experience like no other!
September 7, HEAD WEST Marketplace, HEAD WEST is a marketplace for emerging + established local brands and small businesses. From hand-made ceramics to locally sourced vintage, there are always new categories of goods available to explore.
September 13, SF Cheese Fest. Sample incredible cheeses from California’s top artisan makers – crafted from cow, goat, sheep, and even water buffalo milk. Enjoy perfect pairings of preserves, chocolate, charcuterie, and local beer and wine.
September 13, Yerba Buena Movie Night: Coco. Movie Night returns to Yerba Buena Gardens with a screening of family favorite Coco! Enjoy San Francisco summer in September and cozy up with family and friends on a journey following Miguel to the magical world of the ancestors.
September 14, Pickwick Vintage Show. Featuring over 70+ exhibitors from across California, featuring collections of vintage clothing, jewelry, accessories, textiles, findings, and inspiration of all kinds.
September 14, Daybreaker. Come solo. Come with your crew. Whatever you do — come to dance on the Back Plaza from 10am-1pm.
September 17, Drag Bingo Night. Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, grab a refreshing beverage or delicious snack from Fort Point Brewery and join in the bingo fun on the North Plaza. Expect sass, prizes and good vibes on the Embarcadero.
September 18, Bachata at Sunset. Looking to try something new, meet great people, and dance the night away? Join Inessence Dance Co. every first and third Thursday at The Crossing for a beginner-friendly bachata class.
September 18, Rooftop Radio. Get ready for a one-of-a-kind live music experience. Three cutting-edge local bands will bring you a refreshing and energizing evening on SFMOMA’s rooftop. After sunset, the museum’s external walls will become the backdrop for a live psychedelic visual projection.
September 21, MAUM Market. A Pop‑Up Celebrating Asian‑Owned Small Businesses. Mindfully curated, MAUM Market spotlights Asian-owned artists, creatives, and entrepreneurs—featuring everything from ceramics and fashion to food, beauty, and home goods.
September 21, Argentine Tango. Experience the passion of Argentine Tango at the beautiful Salesforce Park rooftop in San Francisco.
September 27, Dog Days 2. Get ready for a paws-itively amazing day at Oracle Park. The day will be filled with furry friends, fun and Giants baseball against the Colorado Rockies.
September 27-October 2, Mushroom Daze with Far West Fungi. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market will feature a mushroom cooking demo and Far West Fungi pop-up with special dishes available for one day.
September 28, Bollywood Masti. A beloved favorite at Salesforce Park, Bollywood dance class by Rang de Bollywood is now also coming to The Crossing! Whether you’re a total beginner or looking to brush up on your moves, this high-energy class offers a welcoming space to dance, laugh, and let loose.
September 28, San Francisco Anime Rave. Get ready to level up your anime rave experience – the #WeTouchGrass SF Anime Rave is BACK for the third year in a row.
Tuesdays from 5:15-6pm, BodyWeight Burn. Build strength, boost endurance, and finish your day strong with LuxFit on the South Plaza!
Every Wednesday at The Crossing, Noon Tunes! Midday music, good vibes, and open space—Noon Tunes brings live local performances to your lunch hour. From 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at The Crossing at East Cut.
Wednesdays from 12-1pm, Lunchtime Music. Take a break from your busy day and head to the Back Plaza for live performances from local Bay area musicians. Don’t forget to grab lunch from your favorite Ferry Building’s merchant and enjoy the Bay view while you’re here!
Wednesdays from 3-7pm, Mahjong Meetup. Play Mahjong at the Ferry Building! If you have never played and are eager to learn, an instructor is available to give you a quick guide and helpful tips on Chinese-style.
Thursdays from 4-8pm, Grill and Chill Series at the Ferry Building. Join Peaches Patties every Thursday after work: let’s make Thursdays the new Friday.
Thru October 5, Golden Gate Park Band’s Free Symphony in the Park. Golden Gate Park’s 30-piece symphony has been playing free concerts in Golden Gate Park since 1882. Many concerts feature music of specific nationalities or cultures, including costumed guest performances from dancers, singers, and speakers, who will enlighten and entertain.
