Museum at Home

Missing the museums? Experience some of the best collections from the comfort of your own Jasper residence with help of Google Arts and Culture, YouTube, Virtual Tours and more. You can experience incredible exhibits without leaving your home. We’ve rounded up a few local spots to get your art fix.

SFMOMA. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art content is available 24/7 through a collection of videos and articles from around our museum that give a closer look at some of its exhibitions. Follow @SFMOMA on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for the latest. You can also view more from SFMOMA on Google Arts and Culture.

Asian Art Museum. The Asian Art Museum is offering online alternatives to engaging with their world-class art collection while they are closed through art on their YouTube channel, Instagram, Facebook page, online collection, and educational resources portal.

de Young Museum. The de Young is bringing parts of the museum to your home through a Virtual Tour, new weekly newsletter, featuring artists on their social channels, and their blog. Through Google Arts and Culture, the de Young offers 11 exhibits, including “Cult of the Machine” and “Ruth Asawa: A Working Life.”

Legion of Honor. For classic art lovers, Google Arts and Culture provides a deep dive into the Legion of Honor collection with 157 separate pieces digitized for remote appreciation—the oldest created in the 13th century BCE and the most recent dating to 1917. There’s also an online exhibition featuring the sculptures of French sculptor Auguste Rodin, billed as “arguably one of the most comprehensive” collections of Rodin works in the world.

California Academy of Sciences. Whether you’re searching for STEM activities for the kids or just want to keep tabs on your favorite Academy creatures, they have curated an eclectic array of science-centric games, videos, and DIY projects to help you stay learning and engaged, wherever you are.

The J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty in Los Angeles is currently closed to the public but challenging people to create their favorite works of art with objects at home. How? Choose your favorite artwork, find three things lying around your house, recreate the artwork with those items and share. Visit your favorite local museum and see if they are hosting the same challenge!
