Vive La Tarte brings Tacros to the Ferry Building

The popular SoMa bakery Vive La Tarte has arrived at the Ferry Building and bringing with it Instagram worthy creations. The streamlined version of Viva La Tarte is located in the former Dandelion Chocolate kiosk space next to a stall from Fort Point Beer Company.

Belgian husband-and-wife team, Arnaud Goethals and Julie Vandermeersch, co-founded Vive La Tarte in 2011, selling their namesake tarts from a vintage VW bus before expanding to their large, industrial-chic SoMa headquarters in 2015.

The menu at the Ferry Building location will be similar to the SoMa location, offering plenty of what fans have come to love, like fruit-stuffed croissants, smashed avocado toast, and bircher muesli bowls with overnight oats, along with salads, and artisan sandwiches made on house-made sourdough bread.

There will be also be a new addition to the menu specific to the Ferry Building location as well, called the “Tacro,” a croissant shell stuffed with savory fillings and served like a taco.

Choose from chile chicken with avocado, slow-roasted pulled pork and pineapple, or barbecued jackfruit with mango pico de gallo. For salsa, you’ve got two choices: green (avocado with cilantro, lemon, salt and pepper, and jalapeño), or red (chili, lemon, salt and pepper, and cherry tomato).

“We’re very excited to bring our craft to the wonderful people around the Ferry Building, and can’t wait to share our latest creations with San Francisco locals and visitors alike,” said Goethals.

Rounding the menu out are Sightglass Coffee espresso drinks and concoctions like turmeric lattes and coconut cold-brew coffee. Vive La Tarte’s new shop will be open daily from 7am–7pm.

After settling in, the team would like to install a patio next to the kiosk, providing a lounging area similar to the bleachers-like stairs seating at their SoMa bakery headquarters.
