Must Attend Events in December

For the final month of 2017 we’ve rounded up a few must attend events coming up in the city that definitely need to be added to your social calendar:

Stop by the lobby of the Westin St. Francis to admire the St. Francis Holiday Display, featuring two castles with circular towers, individual rooms, and illuminated windows, surrounded by holiday sugar cakes, December 1-31.

Join the Run Wild San(ta) Francisco 5K on December 3 that includes a Santa hat to wear, a race-day T-shirt, a finish-line award, a timing chip, and a post-race expo at Crissy Field.

Attend a workshop to build a lantern you can carry in the Parol Lantern Festival & Parade on December 9 or join the spectators at Yerba Buena Gardens.

Run, run Santa! A ticket to San Francisco Great Santa Run on December 10 includes a Santa suit, a commemorative holiday medal and a 5K/1-mile run at Crissy Field.

See the schedule of Menorah lighting ceremonies held every day at the giant Bill Graham Menorah in Union Square from December 12-19.

Nutcracker Sweets is a 50-minute contemporary take on the beloved holiday ballet for all ages at Fort Mason Center. December 9-10 and 22-23.

Stop by the CUESA Classroom on December 16 for a cooking demo featuring Caitlin Meade & Nicole Fish, Native Co., featuring Star Route Farms.

Take in the San Francisco New Year’s Eve Fireworks launch for 15 minutes from barges 1000 feet offshore of the Ferry Building on December 31.

See dozens of dramatic glowing art installations in different neighborhoods during Illuminate SF Light Art Festival with free guided tours, an illuminated bike ride, self-guided walks, and artist talks, through January 1.

See the two-story giant Gingerbread House made of thousands of home-baked gingerbread bricks and more than a ton of icing and candy in the lobby of the Fairmont San Francisco hotel, through January 1.

Lace up those skates this season and take a spin on the ice at the Union Square Ice Rink, through January 15.

Sincerely Yours
