Woodlands Market Now Open!

Welcome new neighbors! On August 26th, Woodlands Market opened its first San Francisco outpost at the ground level retail space on Main and Folsom Streets, a mere 0.3 miles from Jasper.

Hoodline reported the market is the third location for Don Santa, the market’s founder and owner. The flagship store is in Kentfield and a second location is located in Tiburon. Santa opened the first store in 1986, but said his family’s business history in the Bay Area goes back to the early 1900’s. Via phone, he said his family immigrated to San Francisco from Italy in 1910 and opened the Hyde Street Market, originally situated at the corner of California and Hyde.

“It sustained a couple of generations of our family, from World War Two to the Depression, and everything else in between,” said Santa, reports Hoodline. After 63 years in Nob Hill, the Santa family closed shop and moved to Marin.

As a grocery mainstay of the Marin County community, Woodlands Market brings a trusted name and a long-standing commitment to providing natural and sustainable products from local suppliers to the Rincon Hill/SoMa neighborhood seven days a week from 7am to 9pm.

“We’re thrilled to expand into San Francisco,” says Don Santa, Woodlands Market’s Founder. “The dynamic, changing landscape of the Transbay/Rincon Hill neighborhood is extremely exciting, and we are delighted to be an anchor retailer committed to this growing neighborhood.”

The new 9,500-square-foot market is designed with natural wood, stone, and metal art. The gleaming corner spot includes indoor and outdoor café seating.

The full-service market offerings include a curated selection of organic, natural and sustainable products from local suppliers and a ton of fresh produce sourced from local farmers with whom the market has longstanding relationships.

In addition to its extensive fresh produce section, they offer a wide variety of meats and seafood, a diverse selection of hot and cold prepared foods, fresh-cut flowers, a coffee bar, fresh in-house juices and fresh, nutritious bread daily.  Shoppers will also find a Sandwich Bar, Salad Bar, Hot Bar, Poke Bar and Burrito Bar.

Already gaining rave reviews on Yelp:

“Best market in the city hands down!  Amazing food that can’t be found anywhere else.” – Jeremy A.

“Never seen so many smiles and good vibes in a supermarket before. Everything looks perfectly organized.  Went here for lunch and the menu is fantastic. Meet and fish department are excellent. Service here is incredible.” – Eric H.

“YAAAAY! This neighborhood finally has a grocery store! No, wait… an AMAZING grocery store!!!  This place is a must to check out if you want high quality foods for a meal you’re making, or if you want to cheat and get the stuff they make in-house (breakfast, lunch AND dinner – thanks Woodlands!). My favorite thing so far might be their sandwiches (super yummy), or their sushi/poke bar, or the baked goods… Ahhh! Too much goodness! So happy to have this as a go-to for, really, everything!” – Whitney L.

Welcome to the neighborhood!
