Dog Days Of Summer

Summer is almost here.  With the weather warming up, it’s a great time to explore the city with your four-legged friend.  So pack up the pooch and enjoy a day with your canine companion as the Dog Days of Summer approach.

Start your day with a short trip west to explore all the beauty that Lands End has to offer. Exploring the rocky coast is a “must do” for all residents in the city and the setting provides a wonderful opportunity for you to take your dog out to experience nature, get some exercise and meet new friends. The three mile hike offers spectacular views of the rugged California coastline, where wildflowers, nature and often wildlife abound.  While you are there, explore a part of San Francisco’s rich past at the Sutro Bath ruins.  You may want to venture to the nearby cave and take in the beauty of Seal Rocks while you’re there.  Dogs on leashes are welcome but, for safety’s sake, be sure to stick to the paths as there are steep cliffs on this trail.

Time For Lunch – Now that you have worked up an appetite and have an urge for seafood (exploring the coast can do that to you) head to Skool, which serves up sustainable and delicious seafood with Japanese flair. Located in Potrero Hill, Skool’s sun soaked patios, which are dog-friendly, are the perfect place to enjoy their seasonal artisan cocktails and inventive dishes. Ling F. on Yelp agrees:

Originally we came here to find a restaurant that have a patio– so we can bring my friend’s dog. Not only you get a food menu but your dog will get one too. Very attentive on service, food is amazingly good that’s so unreal and beautiful presentation.  We have ordered the Brandade, Isle Salmon and Chef’s Risotto. My favorite was the Chef’s Risotto it’s a must dish! -tuna in a creme sauce that’s just taste like heaven.”

Afternoon Beverage – It’s important to remember to hydrate during those sunny day.  A great place that you and your canine companion can relax and reflect on your adventures is Harmonic Brewing in Dogpatch.  While your pooch is enjoying the water bowl provided by this brewery, you can experience a Rye Old Fashioned Pale and/or Skydog IPA. Dogs aren’t limited to the outdoors, they have the whole place to explore.

Before you return home, make a short detour to grab your friend a treat at Pawtrero.  They have an assortment of treats and chews sure to be a huge hit with your pup.  Their knowledgeable staff makes your shopping a breeze, in a relaxed and fun environment.

Now that you are back at Jasper, it’s nice to have access to the Evolution Dog Wash, which offers an excellent opportunity to wash away any residual from the day’s activities.  It’s simple to use with its user-friendly interface and real-time monitoring and your dog will love to be clean after a long day of exploring.

Now it’s time to head back up to your residence to relax, unwind and reflect upon the adventures of the day.  Nap time anybody??
