Guy Place Mini Park Coming to Rincon Hill

In case you haven’t heard the news, a new park is coming to Rincon Hill, mere steps from Jasper.  The 4,000-square-foot “pocket park” will be named Guy Place and is projected to break ground as early as 2018.  It looks to be a beautiful addition to the neighborhood, offering residents and visitors a nice escape from the urban hardscape of the City.

The latest information regarding this new park was recently posted by The San Francisco Recreation & Parks department:

The final design for Guy Place Mini Park was approved by Civic Design Review on October 23rd. This review followed a revision to the park design that eliminated a vine column from the new bulb-out fronting the park. It is anticipated that the project will go out to bid in November 2017 with an estimated ground-breaking in the spring of 2018.

The pocket park will also include a waterjet cut steel fence which combines the contours of the local landscape, cartographic imagery and abstract forms designed by Adriane Colburn, who drew inspiration from the historic and contemporary geologic record of the neighborhood. Adriane, an artist based in San Francisco and New York, specializes in large-scale installations (comprised of layers of hand cut paper, digital prints and projected light) that investigate the complex relationships between human infrastructure, earth systems, technology and the natural world.

Looking forward to this wonderful addition to the neighborhood.
